اعتصاب غذای خشک پناهندگان سیاسی در قبرس

یک گروه چهار نفره پناهندگان سیاسی برای تسریع بررسی پرونده خود تصمیم دارند تا روز پنجشنبه در مقابل وزارت داخله تحصن کنند. در بیانیه گروه حامی پناهندگان (ک آی اس آ) آمده است که این پناهندگان شناخته شده شامل سه مرد و یک زن بمدت شانزده روز در اعتصاب غذا بوده اند و از سه شنبه از نوشیدن مایعات خودداری کرده اند.
حمایت کنندگان که از سازمانهای غیر دولتی هستند برای جمع آوری امضا و ارائه پتیشن به وزیر داخله (ساکریت هاسکاس) تلاش می کنند. سپس آنها تصمیم دارند تا درمقابل پارلمان و در محلی که اعضای کمیته امور داخلی در باره درخواست های پناهندگان بحث میکنند تظاهرات نمایند. پناهندگان در ژانویه گذشته به اعتصاب غذای 52 روزه خود پس از اینکه وزیر داخله قول بررسی سریع پرونده های اقامت را داده بود پایان دادند.
اما تا کنون پیشرفتی مشاهده نشده و آنان تصمیم به ادامه اعتصاب غذای خود در ماه جاری گرفته اند. آنها از دولت شغل و دریافتی نمیخواهند و تنها خواستار دریافت اقامت یا شهروندی هستند تا بتوانند جزیره را ترک نموده و به کشورهای اتحادیه اروپا که دوستا و خویشاوندانشان هستند بروند. آنها میگویند پس از پانزده سال بودن در جزیره وضعیتشان نامشخص است.

A group of four political refugees plan to march to the interior ministry on Thursday to hand over a petition demanding they be granted Cypriot citizenship.

The recognised refugees, three men and a woman, have been on a hunger strike for 16 days now, and as of Tuesday stopped taking fluids as well, a statement by immigrant support group KISA said.

Supporters, including KISA and other non-governmental organisations, will be collecting signatures and will try to hand to petition to Interior Minister Socrates Hasikos.

Next they will stage a protest walk ending at the parliament, where the House Interior Committee will be discussing the refugees’ demands.

The refugees had called off a 52-day hunger strike back in January when the interior minister promised that their residency applications would be examined. Having made no progress, they resumed their strike earlier this month.

The four say they are not seeking jobs or handouts from the state, and that they merely want residency status or Cypriot citizenship in order to be able to leave the island and travel to other EU countries where they have friends and relatives.

They say that after spending 15 years on the island their status is still in limbo.
